Twistvine? (Twistvine Fruit)
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This large fruit tree grows up to 35 feet (10.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 70 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a sturdy, twisting trunk covered in thin, smooth, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the very hard wood is pale yellow.
The small bunches of branches are short stubs and are covered with small bunches of miniature, pleated leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are beige and crimson.
In early spring, it produces hundreds of large, pink blossoms with stiff, pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a strong scent that smells like leather.
In late autumn it produces tiny, triangular fruit. The crispy white skin is delicate and edible when cooked; it is sweet and sour, and the crunchy sky blue flesh is bitter and very dry. The gold seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.
The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
The stems are covered in large spikes.
The sap is edible and slightly savoury.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
