Clinging Redwood

This enormous tree grows up to 104 meters (341.2 feet) tall and lives seemingly forever, with many known specimen being tens of thousands of years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, angular trunk covered in fine, ridged, dark green bark, and inside, the light wood is burgundy.

The branches trail down across the ground, with hundreds of twigs covered with handfuls of giant, pink-red needles. The needles themselves are delicate.

In late summer it produces small, light grey, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
