Emberthorn

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small caudiciform grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall. The needle-like stem is emerald, and is dotted with small yellow spines. It has a straight, round, orange trunk atop a very thick platform of wrinkled, exposed roots. The branches are thick and red and trail down towards the ground.

The smooth-edged, finger-like leaves are a shade of yellow-green that gradient shifts to white at the top. They are frail, but do not detach easily.

It is very fast growing, taking 5 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with each petal a slightly different shade of caramel grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 60 petals. It has an intense scent that smells like bonfire smoke.

The caudiciform's skin is very thick, the azure flesh is rough, and the indigo sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.

It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
