Caramel Spine Caudiciform

This short caudiciform grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. The very narrow, elongated stem is gray-green, and is covered in thick sheets of fine, caramel, hair-like spines. The angular, gold trunk can grow to as much as 2 feet (61.0 cm) in diameter in the middle. Its burgundy branches are short and thin and start growing at the top the stem.

The small bunches of ripped-edged, very narrow and elongated leaves are found in peach, brilliant blue and olive varieties. They are light, but easily come away when pulled.

It is fast growing, taking 3 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with solid beige petals decorated with white dots and a red central disk, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet with 23 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like pine needles.

The caudiciform's skin is nearly impenetrable, the bronze flesh is rough, and the brilliant blue sap is thin.
