Aquamarine Spineleaf

This short leaf succulent grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall. The very thin stem is copper, and is covered in dozens of rigid silver spines. The pebble-like leaves are found in aquamarine and ashy blue varieties. Large amounts of them grow on stumpy, gray-green branches that are very long and slender. The leaves are flexible, and take some effort to detach.

It is steady-growing, taking 4 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with each petal a slightly different shade of white, grow at the top, reappearing after 7 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet with 60 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like mango.

The leaf succulent's skin is rock-hard, the beige flesh is rough, and the brown sap is thin.
