Clinging Mahogany

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This average-sized tree grows up to 14 meters (45.9 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 193 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, slanted trunk covered in thin, ridged, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is mahogany-coloured.

The sparse amount of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with small bunches of crispy, small, needle-like leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are found in brown, gold and green varieties.

In late summer it forms small, olive, shelled seeds.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
