Bluebell Cactus

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its leaves)

This average-sized flower grows up to 8 inches (20 cm) tall. Its yellow-green stem is very thin, and the miniature, yellow leaves are long, narrow with smooth edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

A single giant flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 6 cm (2.4 inches) wide, with petals that are sky blue on the edges and indigo at the center. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 30 curved petals. They fall easily.

It has a delicate scent that smells like rotten meat, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by one species of insect in particular.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
