Copperfruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)This huge fruit tree grows up to 66 feet (20.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 47 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.
It has a narrow, curved trunk covered in fine, knobbly, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the light wood is mahogany-coloured.
The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of tiny, sickle shaped leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are solid cyan with orange patches.
In early spring, it produces a handful of medium-sized, copper blossoms with 8 circular shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a powerful scent that smells like sugar.
In late summer it produces tiny, wide fruit. The rubbery brown skin is peel-able and inedible, and the soft peach flesh is sour and juicy. The pale green seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.
The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
