Climbing Bloodvine

This big fruit tree grows up to 29 feet (8.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 79 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, curved trunk covered in very thick, rough, gray bark, and inside, the soft wood is silver.

The branches are short and thin and are covered with thick bunches of small, fan-like leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are pink at the bottom and bronze with blood red zig-zags at the top.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of small, hazel blossoms with slender, pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have the faintest scent that smells like sugar.

In early winter it produces , needle-like fruit. The smooth violet skin is thick and inedible, and the very soft light grey flesh is sweet and bitter and syrupy. The black seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
