Copper Spine Succulent

This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 37 feet (11.3 meters) tall. The narrow stem is green or caramel, and is covered in dozens of rigid copper spines. It has a angular, thick, black trunk atop a stumpy clump of rough, exposed roots. The branches are bulbous and orange-yellow and lime green and are short, rigid and upright.

The rounded-edged, finger-like leaves are either light grey or magenta, with cyan zig-zags. They are frail, and are very difficult to pull away.

It is very slow growing, taking 40 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are generally deep yellow; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of 6 petals in raised layers. It has an overpowering scent that smells like candle wax.

The caudiciform's skin is tough, the vibrant green flesh is slimy, and the light grey sap is thin and has hallucinogenic properties.
