Elderwood

This average-sized tree grows up to 50 meters (164.1 feet) tall and lives seemingly forever, with many known specimen being tens of thousands of years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a knobbly, slanted trunk covered in fine, cracked, silver bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale yellow.

The small bunches of branches trail down across the ground, with thousands of twigs covered with very large amounts of huge, emerald needles. The needles themselves are resistant.

In late summer it produces large, faded green aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
