Emerald Shield Moss

This lime green moss is commonly found blanketing giant areas On rotten logs, and In damp forests.
It is average-sized, growing up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. It forms in sparse patches and they are slow to spread and grow, and is extremely delicate.
When mature, emerald shield-shaped capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early summer to release millions of spores.
