This gray-green moss is commonly found growing in giant clumps In rainforests, and In heathlands.
It is small, growing up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. It forms in sparse patches and they are slow to spread and grow, and is overwhelmingly sturdy.
When mature, emerald spiral capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early summer to release millions of spores; it can cause allergic reactions.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
