Clinging Hazelrose
Flower type: Biennial (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This large flower grows up to 5.8 feet (1.8 meters) tall. Its emerald stem is wispy, and the large, hazel and grey leaves are long, narrow with rounded edges. 27 leaves grow at the base of the stem.
Each stem splits 4 to 6 times; a single medium-sized flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 18 cm (7.1 inches) wide, with petals that are purple on the underside and brown on the top. The flower head is shaped like a bowl with 47 raised, narrow petals. They fall easily.
It has an overpowering scent that smells like cigarette smoke, and it has lots of pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by some specific types of insect.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
It spreads easily and often blanket large areas.
