Coilvine

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 21 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in knobbly, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the dense wood is pine-coloured.

The branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with very large amounts of small, very thin leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of magenta that gradient shifts to crimson at the top.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of giant, olive blossoms with long, tapering petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a powerful scent that smells like meat.

In early winter it produces , 4 pointed fruit. The leathery blood red skin is peel-able and inedible, and the very soft black flesh is spicy and sour and very juicy. The drab green seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
It only grows on the most fertile lands.
