Coniapple

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 28 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, twisting trunk covered in very thick, knobbly, gray bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale brown-grey.

The abundance of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with small amounts of huge, fan-like leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are either purple or cream, with dull blue patches.

In early spring, it produces lots of giant, gold blossoms with spear shaped petals. They are hardy and have a weak scent that smells like skunk spray.

In early winter it produces small, needle-like fruit. The crispy orange skin is thin and inedible, and the soft light brown flesh is extremely bitter and powdery. The crimson seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
