Twistleaf Fruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 20 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.
It has a wide, twisting trunk covered in thin, rough, brown and grey bark, and inside, the very light wood is gray.
The branches are short stubs and are covered with very large amounts of large, perforated leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are found in intense orange, copper and turquoise varieties.
In early spring, it produces thick bunches of medium-sized, muted purple blossoms with broad, flat petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a mildly strong scent that smells like freshly washed clothes.
In early winter it produces very large, V-shaped fruit. The rubbery peach skin is delicate and sweet, and the crunchy light brown flesh is extremely savoury and powdery. The crimson seeds are small and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.
The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
