Silverbloom Tree

This big fruit tree grows up to 22 feet (6.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 48 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a sturdy, wavy trunk covered in thin, silky, yellow bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is burgundy.

The small handful of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with large amounts of miniature, circular leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are found in intense orange, copper and turquoise varieties.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of medium-sized, silver blossoms with spear shaped petals. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like old books.

In early summer it produces tiny, circular fruit. The leathery light brown skin is peel-able and inedible, and the slightly crunchy light brown flesh is salty and sour and juicy. The cream seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
