Pineappleberry

This big fruit tree grows up to 33 feet (10.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 59 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a flexible, straight trunk covered in thin, waxy, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the very light wood is pine-coloured.

The abundance of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with small bunches of tiny, circular leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are found in lilac and peach varieties.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of large, green blossoms with asymmetrical petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a fairly strong scent that smells like old shoes.

In early summer it produces large, triangular fruit. The waxy dull blue skin is peel-able and inedible, and the very soft light brown flesh is bitter and salty and oily. The light grey seeds are small and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
