Clinging Spiceberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 54 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in cracked, light brown bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is white with black speckles.

The small bunches of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with copious amounts of huge, perforated leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are slate and subtle orange.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of tiny, beige blossoms with perforated petals. They detach easily and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like skunk spray.

In mid-autumn it produces tiny, long, narrow fruit. The leathery subtle orange skin is stretchy and spicy, and the slightly crunchy light red flesh is salty and powdery. The brown seeds are tiny and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
