Brownstone Moss

This dark brown moss is commonly found blanketing large areas In heathlands, On trees, and On rotten logs.
It is short, growing up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. It forms in thick clumps and they are exceptionally hardy, and is extremely robust; it can easily endure being trodden on.
When mature, emerald kidney-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-autumn to release dozens of spores.
