Clinging Sunflower

Flower type: Biennial (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This small flower grows up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. Its yellow-green stem is very thin, and the huge, yellow-green leaves are light orange on the underside and are very thin with tattered edges. 4 leaves grow at the base of the stem.

Around 80 medium-sized flowers grow along the length of the stem. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with solid red petals decorated with slate dots and a dark brown central disk. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 40 petals. They detach easily.

It has an intensely strong scent that smells like a woman, and it has copious amounts of pollen. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also visited by a variety of insects.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
The bark, wood and leaves are edible.
It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
