Golden Spine Cactus

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This small cactus grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall. It splits near the top to form 2 fan-like stems. Each stem is beige, and is covered in thick bunches of flexible gold spines. The round body is burgundy, and is covered in brittle dark grey spines.

It is very slow growing, taking 50 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with petals that are copper on the underside and washed-out yellow on the top grow at the top, reappearing after 5 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of 20 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight bowl. It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like garlic.

The cactus's skin is thin, the blood red flesh is smooth, and the hazel sap is thin.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
It is bio-luminescent.
