Copper Spire

This short leaf succulent grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall. The very thick stem is bronze and silver, and is covered in brittle cream spines. The stocky leaves are a shade of copper that gradient shifts to aquamarine at the top. Handfuls of them grow on stumpy, copper branches that are very short, thin and wispy. The leaves are flexible, and are very difficult to pull away.

It is very slow growing, taking 40 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are turquoise at the sides and hazel at the center grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a heart with 12 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. It has a mildly strong scent that smells like sweat.

The leaf succulent's skin is nearly impenetrable, the washed-out blue flesh is soft, and the amber sap is thin and has hallucinogenic properties.
