Red Spine Cactus

This short cactus grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall. The very thin stem is red, and is covered in dozens of flexible grey spines.

It is steady-growing, taking 2 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are red at the sides and bronze at the center grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is largely flat with 46 tightly layered round-tipped petals. It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like wet dog.

The cactus's skin is thick, the slate flesh is smooth, and the cream sap is thin.
