Blood Thorny Succulent

This average-sized caudiciform grows up to 57 feet (17.4 meters) tall. The very thick stem is burgundy, and is covered in lots of rigid pink spines. It has a wonky, thick, gnarled, crimson trunk atop a thick stilted platform of wrinkled, exposed roots. The branches are thick, gnarled and silver and are short stubs.

The jagged-edged, long, tapering leaves are either crimson or black, with blood red patches. They are resistant, and take little effort to detach.

It is quick growing, taking 5 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with petals that are either blue or deep yellow, with a yellow center grow at the top, reappearing after 2 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a dish with 54 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. It has a soft scent that smells like onion.

The caudiciform's skin is extremely thick, the gold flesh is leathery, and the yellow sap is thin.
