Copper Trumpetvine

This short flower grows up to 2 inches (5 cm) tall. Its copper stem is very thin and straight, and the large, orange-yellow leaves are black on the underside and are fan-like with smooth edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

Many giant flowers grow along the length of the stem. The flowers are 10 cm (3.9 inches) wide, with solid blue petals and a deep blue central disk. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet with 44 raised, round-tipped petals. They are very delicate.

It has a fairly strong scent that smells like warm milk, and it has excessive amounts of pollen,but it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also visited by some specific types of insect.
