Coniwisp Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its leaves)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 52 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, curved trunk covered in thin, rough, yellow bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is pale brown-grey.

The small clumps of branches are very long, thin and wispy and are covered with large amounts of giant, stiff, pointed leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are found in caramel, yellow and bronze varieties.

In early spring, it produces lots of giant, pink blossoms with 5 umbrella-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have a strong scent that smells like alcohol.

In early winter it produces tiny, wide fruit. The fuzzy purple skin is peel-able and sweet and spicy, and the crunchy blue flesh is sweet and dry. The light grey seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
