This emerald moss is commonly found blanketing medium-sized areas In bogs, and In marshes.
It is short, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in sparse patches and they spread and grow quickly, and is extremely light.
When mature, emerald crescent-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late autumn to release dozens of spores.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
The leaves have medicinal properties.
It can survive a long time without water.
