Silver Spike Grass

This small, silver grass grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The sickle shaped stalks grow in extensive patches that are strong and tough.

When mature, the end of the stem eventually transforms into a tiny, slate spikelet.

During the early autumn, it produces lots of pollen; it can can cause allergic reactions, and after flowering, it is left with plenty of medium-sized grains.
