Crimson Spineflower

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short caudiciform grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall. The fan-like stem is purple, and is covered in large amounts of flexible dull green spines. The stumpy, crimson trunk can grow to as much as 8 feet (2.4 meters) in diameter. Its moss green branches trail down towards the ground.

The tattered-edged, wispy leaves are pink on the sides and black at the center. They are light, but detach easily.

It is fast growing, taking 4 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with silver petals on the lower layer and aquamarine petals decorated with caramel dots on the inner layer. The central disk is hazel grow at the top, reappearing after 9 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is made up of 43 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight star. It has a fairly strong scent that smells like honeysuckle.

The caudiciform's skin is tough, the crimson flesh is rubbery, and the peach sap is thin and has hallucinogenic properties.
