Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 17 feet (5.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 71 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.
It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in delicate, rough, dark brown bark, and inside, the soft wood is burgundy-brown.
The small handful of branches are very short and thin and are covered with large amounts of giant, spear shaped leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are aquamarine on the edges and purple at the center.
In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of large, violet blossoms with needle-like petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like pepper.
In early summer it produces , long, tapering fruit. The fuzzy hazel skin is thin and edible when cooked; it is sweet and salty, and the very soft peach flesh is sour and syrupy. The olive seeds are small and are bunched at the top of the fruit.
The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
