Copperleaf

This short tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 142 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, twisting trunk covered in waxy, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the very light wood is pale yellow.

The branches are very short, thin and wispy and are covered with copious amounts of smooth, small, pleated leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are found in silver, muted purple and caramel varieties.

In late summer it forms medium-sized, yellow, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
