Turquoise Peach Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 32 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a flexible, straight trunk covered in wrinkled, brown bark, and inside, the very light wood is brown.

The small handful of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with small amounts of giant, very thin leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are copper at the bottom and cream with dark grey lines at the top.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of giant, dark grey blossoms with circular shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a weak scent that smells like damp.

In early autumn it produces very large, stiff, pointed fruit. The smooth turquoise skin is peel-able and inedible, and the slightly crunchy peach flesh is sweet and dry. The dark brown seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
