Waterleaf Bush
Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)This modest-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for around 46 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has several slender, straight stems covered in knobbly, brown and grey bark, and the wood inside is brown.
The branches trail down to the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of miniature, very narrow and elongated, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are purple on the edges and caramel at the center, tough and covered in fine hairs.
In late spring it produces lots of large, bronze flowers with fan-like petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have an intense scent that smells like ashes.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
