Amberspine Indigoleaf

This huge leaf succulent grows up to 158 feet (48.2 meters) tall. The asymmetrical stem is gray and emerald, and is covered in lots of flexible amber spines. The pointed leaves are silver on the sides and indigo at the center. Small bunches of them grow on very thick, pink-red branches that are short, rigid and upright. The leaves are flexible, but easily come away when pulled.

It is very slow growing, taking 7 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with petals that are bright orange at the sides and sky blue at the center grows at the top, reappearing after 2 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is shaped like a sphere made up of 15 raised, narrow petals. It has an overpowering scent that smells like paint.

The leaf succulent's skin is delicate, the dark grey flesh is slimy, and the black sap is thin.
