Vinefruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 19 feet (5.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 50 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in very thick, rough, dark green bark, and inside, the light wood is silver.
The branches are short, thin and wispy and are covered with copious amounts of tiny, thick leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are solid peach or black, with lime patches.
In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of small, grey blossoms with wide petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have an intensely strong scent that smells like fresh linen.
In late summer it produces small, long, tapering fruit. The leathery beige skin is delicate and inedible, and the slightly crunchy lilac flesh is salty and sticky. The blood red seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.
The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
The entire plant is edible and the grains areoverwhelmingly sweet.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
