Twining Crimsonfruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This small fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 56 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a long and flexible, crooked trunk covered in thick, rough, burgundy bark, and inside, the dense wood is pine-coloured.

The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with thick bunches of small, broad, flat leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid cream or crimson, with lilac edges.

In early spring, it produces a handful of giant, gold blossoms with broad, flat petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a faint scent that smells like petrol.

In mid-summer it produces small, fan-like fruit. The smooth pink skin is thin and spicy and salty, and the slightly crunchy magenta flesh is sweet and powdery. The cream seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.

The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
All parts of the fruit tree are edible.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
It is extremely resistant to fire damage.
