Silverleaf Indigofern
Shrub type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This huge shrub grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for around 37 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has many sturdy, straight stems covered in fine, smooth, silver bark, and the wood inside is yellow-brown.
The branches are long, thin and wispy with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of huge, thin, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are either cream, or magenta with lilac edges, tough and smooth.
In early summer it produces handfuls of large, indigo flowers with 7 spiral shaped petals. They detach easily and have a faint scent that smells like candle wax.
It is suitable for making paper
It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if cut.
