Bloodthorn Succulent

This huge caudiciform grows up to 26 feet (7.9 meters) tall. The sickle shaped stem is pink-red, and is covered in many rigid dark brown spines. The angular, yellow trunk can grow to as much as 26 feet (7.9 meters) in diameter at the bottom. Its black branches are short stubs and start growing halfway up the stem.

The small amounts of ripped-edged, sickle shaped leaves are a shade of deep yellow that gradient shifts to blood red at the top. They are resilient, and do not detach easily.

It is very slow growing, taking 30 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with turquoise petals and a bright green central disk, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 11 petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like glue.

The caudiciform's skin is rock-hard, the olive flesh is smooth, and the slate sap is thin.
