Coniapple

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 20 feet (6.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 78 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, wavy trunk covered in delicate, ridged, dark gray bark, and inside, the very hard wood is white.

The numerous branches are short and thin and are covered with thick bunches of giant, perforated leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are cyan and pink.

In early spring, it produces thousands of medium-sized, magenta blossoms with 8 teardrop-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a mildly strong scent that smells like fresh linen.

In early autumn it produces tiny, wide fruit. The rough deep purple skin is peel-able and edible when boiled; it is sweet, and the crunchy lime flesh is sweet and spicy and very dry. The red seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
