Turquoise Spine Succulent

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This average-sized caudiciform grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall. The sickle shaped stem is orange, and is covered in lots of rigid turquoise spines. The straight, olive trunk can grow to as much as 4 feet (1.2 meters) in diameter at the top. Its cream or brown branches are short and thin and start growing a quarter of the way up the stem.

The thick bunches of wavy-edged, circular leaves are gentle green and white. They are strong, but take little effort to detach.

It is slow growing, taking 5 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with dark grey petals and a slate central disk, grow at the top, reappearing once every 6 years. The flower head is shaped like a star with 9 tightly layered, narrow petals. It has a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like blood.

The caudiciform's skin is very thick, the caramel flesh is smooth, and the blue sap is thin.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
