Water Stem Trumpet

Flower type: Annual (Stores water in its stem)

This short flower grows up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. Its emerald stem is thin, and the large, gray leaves are dark yellow-green on the underside and are finger-like with ripped edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the stem.

A single small flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with light grey petals that gradient shift to beige on the outer edge. The central disk is violet. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet with 25 raised, narrow petals. They fall easily.

It has the faintest scent that smells like pot-purri, and it has a modest amount of pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to a specific species.
