Crimson Spire Cactus

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This modest-sized cactus grows up to 32 feet (9.8 meters) tall. It splits near the top to form 5 slender, pointed stems. Each stem is ashy purple, and is covered in handfuls of rigid white spines. The round body is olive or crimson, and is dotted with small red spines.

It is steady-growing, taking 21 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with solid indigo petals decorated with azure dots and a ashy purple central disk grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is largely flat with handfuls of raised narrow petals. It has a powerful scent that smells like mint.

The cactus's skin is very thick, the violet flesh is waxy, and the blood red sap is thin.

It can absorb up to 11 times its own weight in water.
It is suitable for making strong rope
It comes in 58 varieties.
