Caramel Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 53 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a thick, curved trunk covered in knobbly, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the dense wood is brown.

The small clumps of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with copious amounts of tiny, fan-like leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are either purple or caramel, with silver edges.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of large, crimson blossoms with 8 pointed petals. They are hardy and have a faint scent that smells like misty mornings.

In early winter it produces , broad, flat fruit. The crispy lime skin is delicate and inedible, and the very soft dark grey flesh is spicy and sticky. The silver seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
It is extremely resistant to fire damage.
