Crimson Pine

This small tree grows up to 6 meters (19.7 feet) tall and lives "forever", with many known specimens being tens of thousands of years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, angular trunk covered in hard, cracked, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the very light wood is brown.

The branches are very long and thick, covered with very large amounts of small, gray needles. The needles themselves are rigid.

In late summer it produces large, crimson, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
