Turquoise Trumpet

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.6 feet (48 cm) tall. Its turquoise stem is very thin, and the tiny, black leaves are thick with smooth edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.

A single giant flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 13 cm (5.1 inches) wide, with petals that are crimson at the sides and yellow at the center. The flower head is made up of 55 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight trumpet. They fall easily.

It has a weak scent that smells like fermented fruit, and it has lots of pollen. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to a specific species.
