Indigo Tree

This big tree grows up to 85 meters (278.9 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 486 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, wavy trunk covered in hard, wrinkled, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the soft wood is yellow.

The thick clumps of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with small bunches of smooth, large, very thick leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are indigo on the edges and purple at the center.

In late summer it forms tiny, crimson, winged seeds that float and land far away.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
