Copper-colored

This colossal shrub grows up to 14 feet (4.3 meters) tall and lives for around 94 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many very thick, straight stems covered in paper-thin, cracked, brown bark, and the wood inside is copper-coloured.

The branches trail down across the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of giant, very narrow and elongated, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are hazel and silver, durable and soft.

In early spring it produces a thick sheet of large, gentle orange blossoms with slender, pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like cotton.

In late autumn small circular fruits ripen. The soft silver skin is peel-able and inedible, and the crunchy indigo flesh is sweet and salty and sticky. The red seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.
