Needleleaf Spirea

Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)

This small leaf succulent grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall. The needle-like stem is orange-yellow, and is dotted with small black spines. The thick leaves are generally red. Handfuls of them grow on wide, moss green branches that are short stubs. The leaves are flimsy, and do not detach easily.

It is steady-growing, taking 20 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with solid indigo petals decorated with azure dots and a ashy purple central disk grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 11 petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like pineapple.

The leaf succulent's skin is nearly impenetrable, the caramel flesh is slimy, and the olive sap is thin.

The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
